Out of Casiana, a half-sister to the dam of Grade 1-winning hurdler Catch Me, the new arrival is owned by Liam Clarke and Partners, and was foaled at Clonlisk Stud.

Stud manager Kevin Gaffney said: “We couldn’t be happier with the foal, he is a good, big strong colt with plenty of quality.”

Scorpion has also sired fillies out of the mares Act Seven, owned by Joe Owens, Dream Of Maybe, owned by Seamus Kennedy, and Lady Charmere, owned by Walter Crean.

A Montjeu half-brother to the Group 1-placed Garuda, Scorpion won four of his 15 starts, including the Grand Prix de Paris (Gr1) and the St. Leger (Gr1) at three, and the Coronation Cup (Gr1) at five.

He stands at Coolmore's Castlehyde Stud, and his fee is on application.
