Congrats season sells for more than fee at Fasig

A SEASON for last year's leading North American freshman sire Congrats was bought for more than double his advertised stud fee at Monday's Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Winter Mixed Sale.

It was one of seven 'no guarantee' stallion seasons put up for offer in a new section of the auction.

Congrats stands this year at Vinery in Kenucky at a fee of $15,000. The season sold for $33,000. Buyers for the seasons are unpublished by Fasig-Tipton.

Congrats' flagbearing progeny include Hollywood Starlet Stakes winner Turbulent Descent and Alcibiades Stakes first and third Wickedly Perfect and Jordy Y.

A season for Rachel Alexandra's sire Medaglia D'Oro, advertised this year at $100,000, sold for $78,000, while one in Lord Shanakill's sire Speightstown, advertised at $50,000, sold for $40,000.

More Than Ready had a share sell at $27,000, compared to his fee of $40,000. and Bluegrass Cat has a share sell at $20,000 compared to his fee of $25,000.

Seasons for Malibu Moon and Sky Mesa failed to reach their reserves, bidding reaching $57,000 and $29,000 for them respectively.
