Compton Place mare leads early Goffs trade

THE early pace in today's second and final session of the Goffs February Sale was set by the seven-year-old Compton Place mare Champion Place, who was knocked down to Kildaragh Stud’s Peter Kavanagh €40,000.

She was a twelve times winner in Italy and recorded her biggest success in the Group 3 Premio Omenoni while she was also placed several times at Listed level.

The Ballyhane Stud offering, who has yet to be covered, is also closely related to Pat Martin's dual Listed scorer Indiana Gal.

With 130 lots sold over the two days so far, the clearance rate stands at 46 per cent. The average is €9,000 and the median is €4,000.
