WHILE most eyes may have been trained on Churchill Downs, Colombian (John Gosden/Christophe Soumillon) made a succesful return to France to open his account at Pattern level.

Having finished fourth to Reliable Man in the Prix du Jockey Club (G1) back in June, the son of Azamour had put in a string of creditable efforts to his name in French Group 3s this summer, before being beaten last time out at Leicester in a conditions race.

But classs told as Colombian, a half-brother to the French Guineas winner and sire Clodovil, ran out a 3l winner on holding ground from the Carlos Lerner-trained Simba.
