CRYSTAL Capella, who finished out of the frame only twice in 17 starts for Sir Michael Stoute, will be covered by Shamardal in her first season at stud this year.

The seven-year-old daughter of Cape Cross was retired last season as the winner of eight races topped by two renewals of the Group 2 Pride Stakes and last year's Group 2 Princess Of Wales's Stakes, which she won by eight lengths.

Renee Robeson, sister of owner Sir Evelyn de Rothschild, said on Friday: "We sent Crystal Capella, who won a Group 2 at Newmarket last year  for Sir Michael Stoute, out to Ireland this this morning where she is to be covered by Shamardal. It was sad to see her go."

Shamardal is the sire of five Group 1 winners including dual French Classic hero Lope De Vega and Racing Post Trophy scorer Casamento. The multiple Group 1-winning son of Giant's Causeway stands at Kildangan Stud for €50,000.
