New Zealand shuttling role for Power
LAST year's Irish 2,000 Guineas hero Power will shuttle to Cambridge Stud in New Zealand for the southern-hemisphere breeding season.
The son of Oasis Dream is currently serving his first book of mares at Coolmore in County Tipperary.
Bred by Norelands Stud and Hugo Lascelles, Power was not sold at 50,000gns at Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.
Trained by Aidan O'Brien, he won all of his first three starts at two, including the Coventry Stakes, and, after finishing second in the Phoenix Stakes, added the National Stakes to his tally.
He rounded off his juvenile season by finishing second to Parish Hall in the Dewhurst Stakes. At three he landed the Irish 2,000 Guineas.
Power is out of the Inchinor mare Frappe, a half-sister to Footstepsinthesand and Pedro The Great. He is a half-brother to Ribblesdale Stakes winner Thakafaat
Cambridge Stud owner Sir Patrick Hogan identified Power's pedigree as a big contributory factor to him acquiring his services.
"Power won on his two-year-old debut; so did his mother, so did his second dam and so did his third dam," he said.
A southern-hemisphere nomination fee for Power will be announced in the coming week.
