Claba daughter lights up ITS sale at €260,000

THE latest offspring out of Razza del Velino's star mare Claba Di San Jore was widely predicted to be the star turn of the ITS Yearling Sale in Rome on Friday, and the daughter of Cape Cross didn't disappoint, seeling to Felice Villa's Scuderia Effevi for €260,000.

Armando Duarte, acting on behalf of an existing client, tried hard to get the filly - named Alaskan Assasin - but he couldn't match the determination of the winning bidder, also the owner of Claba Di San Jore's Derby Italiano winners Crackerjack and Awelmarduk as well as her Premio di Milano hero Jakkalberry.

Villa also paid €120,000 for a son of Manduro out of the Listed-placed Paint In Green, a daughter of Invincible Spirit from the family of top-class juvenile Charge D'Affaires.

Pinhooker Willie Browne concluded a busy fortnight of shopping in preparation for next year's breeze-ups when going to €85,000 for a daughter of Shamardal.  A half-sister to the Listed-placed Tenson, she is out of the Group 3-placed Strategic Tactics.

This year's renewal recorded a record aggregate of €1,400,500 for 57 yearlings sold. The average was €24,570.
