Demoted Pearl Swan as short as 5-1 for Triumph

BOOKMAKER opinion was mixed over then chances of Pearl Swan in the JCB Triumph Hurdle after he passed the post first before getting demoted into second by the stewards at Cheltenham on Saturday.

William Hill introduced him into their Triumph betting as 5-1 favourite but he is double that price with Ladbrokes, who also pushed the promoted Grumeti out to 12-1 (from 8-1).

After finishing a disappointing last Baby Mix, who headed the majority of ante-post lists before Saturday's race, was pushed out to a best priced 20-1 with Boylesports, Betfred and William Hill, while the Paul Nicholls-trained Hinterland, who was a beaten favourite in the closing handicap, was pushed out to the same price (from 14-1) by Bet365.

Paddy Power make Sadler's Risk their 6-1 favourite ahead of the Dessie Hughes-trained Minsk, who is yet to race over hurdles, Pearl Swan and Ut De Sivola at 10-1.

Calgary Bay is no bigger than the 16-1 with Paddy Power and William Hill for the Festival Handicap Chase on the first day of Cheltenham after his win in the Sky Bet Chase at Doncaster, although he is likely to skip the festival and go straight to the John Smith's Grand National, for which he is 25-1 (from33s) with Power.

The Giant Bolster was cut to 12-1 (from 25) with Betfred for the Cheltenham handicap after his impressive win at the course on Saturday.

A win for Sir Des Champs in a Grade 2 at Leopardstown resulted in an across-the-board cutting of his price for the RSA Chase. The Willie Mullins-trained six-year-old was making it three-from-three over fence and is a general 10-1 shot the for the big novice chase.

Dynaste's second to Big Buck's in the Cleeve Hurdle was enough to make bookmakers think he could be a challenger in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle. Available at 33-1 on Saturday morning, he is now no bigger than 14-1 with BetVictor, Boylesports and Coral for the race.

Big Buck's is now 4-9 (from 8-13) with William Hill to retain his crown in March, while Argento Chase winner Midnight Chase is now 16-1 (from 40) for the Gold Cup.
