Makybe Diva: Lonhro colt is the fourth foal out of the Triple Melbourne Cup winner

TRIPLE Melbourne Cup heroine Makybe Diva has given birth to her fourth foal, a colt by newly crowned Australian champion sire Lonhro. The colt, whose parents who won 18 Group 1 races between them, was born in the early hours of Tuesday morning in Australia.

Owners Tony and Deslee Santic were delighted to hear the news. They said: "We always wait in anticipation for Makybe Diva to foal and this time was no exception. We are extremely happy that both mum and foal are doing well."

Makybe Diva's first foal is a four-year-old Galileo colt named  Rockstardom, aA$1.5 million yearling who has been placed twice in seven starts for Danny O'Brien.

The daughter of Desert King also has a three-year-old Fusaichi Pegasus filly named La Dolce Diva, who cost A$1.2 million as a yearling and has made one unsuccessful start for Mark Kavanagh, and a two-year-old colt by Encosta De Lago.

A decision on which stallion Makybe Diva visits this season will be made at a later date.

Champion sire and Australian Horse of theYear Lonhro is the sire of 27 stakes winners, three of whom have won at Group 1 level. The son of Octagonal stands at Darley's Kelvinside base in Australia for A$77,000.
