Challow Novices' Hurdle (Grade 1) Newbury 2m5f

Winner: Taquin Du Seuil

5yo b/br g Voix Du Nord - Sweet Laly (Marchand De Sable)

TAQUIN DU SEUIL looks a highly exciting prospect after strolling to a nine-length victory over Easter Day (Malinas) in the Challow Hurdle at Newbury on Saturday.

The five-year-old gave trainer Jonjo O'Neill his fourth victory in the race after Coolnagorna, Wichita Lineman and Backspin.

Taquin De Seuil hails from the first crop of Criterium de Saint-Cloud and Prix Lupin winner Voix Du Nord, a son of Valanour who stands under the French National Stud banner.

Voix Du Nord is making an excellent impression with his early jumps runners, who also include Tony Martin's exciting hurdler Umpact and Auteuil Grade 3 winner Ceasar's Palace.

Bred in France by Marc Boudot, Taquin Du Seuil is the first foal out of the winning Marchand De Sable mare Sweet Laly.

Istabraq Festival Hurdle (Grade 1), Leopardstown 2m

Winner: Hurricane Fly

8yo b g Montjeu - Scandisk (Kenmare)

IT MAY have looked on his seasonal reappearance in last month's Morgiana Hurdle as though Hurricane Fly would have struggled to beat Go Native if that rival had not have fallen, but the former Champion Hurdle hero looked back to his best when annihilating his rivals in the Istabraq Festival Hurdle on Saturday.

The Willie Mullins-trained Hurricane Fly is the best jumps performer by the late outstanding middle-distance sire Montjeu.

Montjeu's other top performers in the National Hunt sphere include Eradicate, Noble Prince and Won In The Dark.

Hurricane Fly, who was trained on the Flat by Jean-Luc Pelletan, was bred in Ireland by Agricola Del Parco out of the winning Kenmare mare Scandisk.

Jump jockey-turned-bloodstock agent Richard Hobson sourced Hurricane Fly to race for Mullins.
