Yoshidas dominate opening day of Arqana

THE Yoshida Brothers accounted for the top three prices on the first day of Arqana's December Breeding Stock Sale on Saturday, headlined by Group 3 winner Celimene, bought by Teruya's Shadai Farm for €800,000.

A dual Group 3 winner by Dr. Fong from the family of Ask For The Moon, Celimene had been due to go through the ring at Tattersalls last Tuesday. However, she was withdrawn in favour of this engagement.

Sitting with Yoshida's son Tetsuya, Patrick Barbe shook off some strong opposition to secure the four year old, who was trained by Carlos Lerner for Gerard Laboureau throughout her career.

"She will now go straight to stud and be covered by a Shadai stallion," said Barbe, before adding: "We have followed Celimene since her debut as a two year old andhave always liked her. The filly has some very good performances and was very talented."
