Caspar Netscher to Morristown Lattin Stud

DUAL Group 2-winning juvenile Caspar Netscher has been retired to stand at the O'Callaghan family's Morristown Lattin Stud in Naas, County Kildare. He will cover at a fee of €7,500.

The son of Dutch Art will join leading second season sire Dark Angel and fellow Gimcrack winner Approve.

Trained by Alan McCabe for Charles Wentworth, Caspar Netscher was bred by the famed Meon Valley Stud and has as his second and third dams Bella Colora and Reprocolor. He went through the sales ring twice, bought as a foal for 25,000 guineas by Katie Walsh who re-sold him to McCabe as a yearling for 65,000gns.

As well as the Gimcrack, Caspar Netscher won the Mill Reef Stakes as a juvenile before taking the Greenham Stakes and German 2,000 Guineas at three. In between those runs he finished ninth of 18 to Camelot in the 2,000 Guineas. He finished fourth of four last time out to Moonlight Cloud in the Group 1 Prix du Moulin.

He was described in a Morristown Press release as "a tough consistent two-year-old who trained on to win the Greenham before winning the German 2,000 Guineas comfortably. He is very correct, walking individual who will be a most welcome addition to the stallion roster".
