FORMER Ballyhane Stud stallion Captain Marvelous was represented by his first winner on Sunday when Captain Blue made it third time lucky for Bill Turner in the 6f seller at Ripon.
The colt, ridden by Turner's grandson Ryan While, stayed on well to score by two-and-a-half lengths from Out Of The Blocks.
Captain Blue is one of eight runners so far by Captain Marvelous, who now stands for €2,500 at Haras des Fontaines in France following three seasons at Ballyhane Stud. The son of Invincible Spirit was a tough two-year-old for Barry Hills, rounding off his first season with a three-length success in the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons-Laffitte. In all, he won four of 22 starts and nearly £150,000 inprize-money.
Bred by owner Karen Theobald, Captain Blue is the first winner from five runners out of Amoras, a winning daughter of Hamas. She is a half-sister to six winners including the Grade 3-winning sprinter Cyrano Storme.
