Group 2-winning juvenile to stand at Ballyhane Stud

CAPTAIN MARVELOUS has been retired to Ballyhane Stud for the 2009 season.

The high point of his career came as a juvenile when he won the Group 2 Criterium de Maisons Lafitte and finished third in the Group 1 Middle Park Stakes behind Dutch Art.

He is by leading sire Invincible Spirit and is out of the Dolphin Street mare Shesasmartlady and from the family that has produced El Prado, Drone and Irish Guineas winner Lady Capulet.

Stud manager Joe Foley said: "Captain Marvelous is a gorgeous looking horse; he was a talented racehorse whose career was curtailed by injury, and he's by a stallion that is going to be a major force in the future"

Captain Marvelous will stand at a fee of €5,000 and will be limited to85 mares in 2009.
