"I'm very proud to have been associated with 'Hali', who has brought a lot of joy, firstly to Box 41 and latterly with Doric Racing, " said Channon on his website. "He's heading to a family run stud in Turkey and he'll remain over there after the Bosphorus Cup.

"Having won the race in 2009, I'm not surprised that he came to their attention. He's a great looking individual, the perfect specimen and he raced at the top level every single season.

"I couldn't be happier and wish his new owners every success with him. We'll run him in May and might look at Royal Ascot with him, but at the age of seven he might need us to be a little more selective than we have been in the past."

One of the toughest horses in training, Halicarnassus has won nine of 62 starts and over £720,000 so far including the Group 2 Superlative Stakes as a two-year-old and a pair of Group 3 races in addition to the 2009 Bosphorus Cup.

Channon added: "Many days stand out as high points - his Superlative win was a great thrill for the whole syndicate, whilst he raced all over the world and usually turned it on.

"He was unlucky to have been touched off by a short head at Meydan this year which shows his durability and he's one ofthose smashing old boys who's paid his way every year. That's why I'm delighted that he's secured a good home with a promising future at stud."

Bred by Yeomanstown Lodge Stud, Halicarnassus is out ofthe Relaunch mare Launch Time and a half-brother to five winners including the Canadian Listed-placed My Lucky Strike.
