Siracusa saves day as snow hits Rome return

Italy: Siracusa staged the welcome return of  racing on Saturday, left in the spotlight after the high-profile meeting at Capannelle in Rome was called off at lunchtime.

Heavy snow prompted the late postponement at Capannelle, but the fixture, which features the Grade 1 hurdle, the Gran Corsa Siepi di Roma, has been rescheduled for Monday.

There has been no racing in Italy since New Year's Eve due to the financial crisis that has enveloped the racing industry.
Siracusa, on the Mediterranean island of Sicily, staged a seven-race Flat card.
