Daylami's Indian Days wins John Porter Stakes

INDIAN DAYS claimed his first domestic Pattern race success with a determined head victory over Bridge Of Gold in the Group 3 Dubai Duty Free Finest Surprise Stakes (registered as the John Porter Stakes) atNewbury on Saturday.

Indian Days, a six-year-old entire by Daylami trained by James Given, was a progressive handicapper who last year made a successful transition into Group company when winning the valuable Group 2 Bosphorous Cup atVeliefendi in Turkey.

Indian Days, who has now won six of his 35 starts, is, like many of Daylami's best performers, a tough and durable performer.

Daylami, a brilliant seven-time Group 1 winner and half-brother toDalakhani, initially retired to his breeder the Aga Khan's Gilltown Stud but, with Irish Derby hero Grey Swallow the only star performer from his early crops, he was sold to stand at stud in South Africa.

Coolagown Stud in County Corkbrought Daylami back from South Africa when it became apparent that his progeny's tough qualities made them ideal for the jumps and Ebaziyan, Pigeon Island and Zaynar won major prizes over obstacles.

Daylami's stud fee at Coolagown this year is €5,000.

Indian Days has also inherited class from his dam, the Indian Ridge mare Cap Coz, winner of the Listed Prix Roland de Chambure. The dam has also produced the speedy Biniou when mated to champion sprinter Mozart.

Cap Coz is out of the Poule d'Essai des Pouliches runner-up Pont Aven, making her a half-sister to Nunthorpe runner-up Sainte Marine and GImcrack Stakes winner Josr Algarhoud.

Indian Days was bred by Chantal Regalado-Gonzalez. She sold a yearling colt by Oasis Dream to Coolmore for €500,000 at last year's Arqana August yearling sale. Named Reply, he is in training with Aidan O'Brien.
