Craig dispersal bolsters Barretts January
THANKS to the popularity of the Craig Family Trust's reduction, the Barretts January Mixed Sale in California ended with significant increases in aggregate and average.
Total sales leapt 61 per cent to $2,013,000 for 275 horses sold while the average rose 20 per cent to $7,320. However, the median dropped 11 per cent to $3,200.
Horses from the Craig Family Trust dispersal accounted for $697,600 of the aggregate and six of the top ten lots led by Tuesday's session-topper, Gentlemen's Crown, whowas knocked down to Warrendale Sales for $65,000.
The winning daughter of Gentleman is a half-sister to the Grade 1-placed Chocolate Candy and is carrying a foal to that colt's sire Candy Ride.
Herman Sarkowsky went to $60,000 for Pride of Pegasus, a daughter of Fusaichi Pegasus out of Premio Lydia Tesio winner Alpride. The six-year-old mare was also in foal to Candy Ride.
