Campanologist to shuttle to Argentina
CAMPANOLOGIST will become the first stallion to shuttle from Germany to South America when he travels to Argentina to stand at the Haras Santa Maria de Araras for this year's southern-hemisphere covering season.
Haras Santa Maria de Araras was founded by Julio Bozano in 1966 and the stud is one of the leading breeders in South America.
Campanologist, an eight-year-old son of Kingmambo, was retired to Gestüt Fährhof near Bremen this year and he already has around 24 mares in foal.
Fährhof chairman Andreas Jacobs said: "We are very pleased to be able to attract such an outstanding partner as Haras Santa Maria de Araras. The Bozano family is one of the most respected breeders in South America.
"Campanologist will travel to South America in July and will return to Fährhof in December."
Initially trained by Mark Johnston and then switched to Saeed Bin Suroor, Campanologist won 11 of his 36 starts and over £1 million in prize-money.
He struck at the top level four times - in the Deutschland Preis, Rheinland Pokal, Preis von Europa and Gran Premio Jockey Club Italiano.
Darley bred Campanologist out of the unraced Sadler's Wells mare Ring Of Music, a three-parts sister to Singspiel and a half-sister to Rahy.
