LIGHTLY-RACED three-year-old Business As Usual shattered the record for Tattersalls' July Sale on Thursday night when selling for 460,000gns to race in Hong Kong.

The Invincible Spirit colt has run just four times for trainer Michael Jarvis and owner Paul Makin, most recently when beating subsequent Britannia Handicap winner Ransom Note at Newmarket in May, and he had many big-budgeted admirers last night.

After agents Gordian Troeller and Anthony Stroud dropped out, David Redvers lasted beyond the 400,000gns mark with Qatari trainer Ibrahim Al-Malki coming off underbidder to the successful buyer, Alastair Donald of Kern Lillingston.

"He's been bought to join trainer John Moore in Hong Kong and he's had a lot of winners from Britain, including Viva Pataca and Collection," said Donald.

"Hopefully this will be a Hong Kong Derby horse, he ticks all the right boxes. He beat the Britannia winner on only his fourth start and I think it was a strong Britannia this year even though Ransom Note was beaten on Thursday."
