Derby candidate shines for Sadler's Wells

BULLET TRAIN shot clear of his rivals to land the Lingfield Derby trial on Saturday, giving his now retired sire Sadler's Wells a potential Derby candidate from his penultimate crop.

The Henry Cecil-trainedcolt is the first foal of Kind, a dual Listed-winning sprinter by Danehill, and a half-sister to Powerscourt, also by Sadler's Wells. She is out of the Lancashire Oaks winner Rainbow Lake.

Cecil stressed after the race that the colt was only a possible Derby runner at this stage. Sadler's Wells has sired two Epsom Derby winners, Galileo in 2001 and High Chaparral in 2002.
