Brother to Pastorius arrives at Auenquelle

JUST a few days after Pastorius made a winning seasonal debut in Longchamp's Group 1 Prix Ganay, his dam Princess Li delivered a brother to the German Derby winner at Gestüt Auenquelle.

The May 8 arrival, a colt, is by the stud's four-time Group 1 winner Soldier Hollow, also the sire of Deutsches Derby hero Pastorius.

Trained by Mario Hofer, Pastorius is a member of his sire's first crop, which also includes the Listed winners Dessau, Old Pal and Sworn Sold.

Princess Li, the winner of three races, is a granddaughter of the German 1,000 Guineas heroine Princess Nana, the dam of seven winners.

Pastorius is one of two winners for Princess Li to date, the daughter of Monsun having already produced the Group-placed Point Blank.

The season is off to a flying start for the late Monsun, who is not only the damsire of Pastorius and a further three black-type winners, but is also the sire of five individual Group winners - including Epsom Derby contender Ocovango.
