FRANKEL (4 c Galileo - Kind by Danehill)

Bred by Juddmonte Farms Ltd in Britain

BRILLIANT Lockinge Stakes winner Frankel is Galileo's third Group 1 winner of the year following Niwot and Igugu, and one of 27 overall by the Coolmore stallion, who provided the likes of Golden Lilac, Misty For Me, Roderic O'Connor, Treasure Beach and Nathaniel in addition to Frankel last year.

Six of those Group 1 winners, including Frankel, Roderic O'Connor and Maybe, are bred on the magical Galileo - Danehill cross.

Frankel's female family gives off mixed messages but it does suggest that were he to step up to 1m2f, the distance should hold no fears for him.

His dam Kind is by top sprinter-miler Danehill and out of Lancashire Oaks winner Rainbow Lake, and was a Listed winner over 5-6f.

Her first foal, Bullet Train, by Galileo's sire Sadler's Wells, won the Lingfield Derby Trial over 1m3½f, while her third foal, Frankel's brother Noble Mission, won the Listed Newmarket Stakes over 1m2f earlier this year.

In addition, her half-brother Powerscourt (also by Sadler's Wells) won the Great Voltigeur, Tattersalls Gold Cup and Arlington Million.

Newbury: JLT Aston Park Stakes (Listed), 1m5 1/2f, 4yo+

HAWAAFEZ (4 f Nayef - Merayaat by Darshaan)

Bred by Shadwell Estate Co Ltd in Britain

JUST a day after siring his 11th stakes winner, Swettenham Stud Fillies' Trialheroine Momentary, Nayef was on the mark at Newbury again, this time courtesy of the Aston Park Stakes winner Hawaafez.

Trained by Marcus Tregoning, who saddled Nayef to win four Group 1 races, Hawaafez is the only winner from three foals out of 1m6f winner Merayaat. The daughter of Darshaan descends from influential mare Doff The Derby via the Group 1-placed Wedding Bouquet and is thus related to the top-class pair Generous and Imagine.

Nayef stands at Nunnery Stud for £12,500. Fairway Stakes (Listed), 1m2f, 3yo

In the process, he became the 131st stakes winner by leading American sire Dynaformer, who died late last last month at Three Chimneys Farm in Kentucky aged 27.

His dam, Vignette, was a 5f Listed-winning sprinter in the US and is the dam of two other minor winners including Newmarket maiden scorer Morning Charm. Vignette is a half-sister to Listed winners On A Cloud and Be Elusive and out of Group 3 Prix Chloe heroine Be Exclusive.
