Brightwells Cheltenham catalogue released

BRIGHTWELLS has released the catalogue for its Cheltenham January Sale, set to be staged after racing at Cheltenham on January 29. The company has catalogued 21 breeze-up horses, who will breeze at Cheltenham from 9.30am on the day of the sale, and another 29 lots with form. A number of wild card entries will also be accepted up until the sale.

Eye-catching breeze-up entries include a Dansili sister to Tolworth Hurdle runner-up Perce Rock, an Arnaquer half-brother to Imperial Handicap Hurdle winner Qaspal and a Presenting gelding out of high-class French hurdler Cara Crown.

A number of recent bumpers winners are also catalogued including Close House, Knockalongi and Rich Revival. Among the winning point-to-pointers entered are debut scorers Ardkilly Gunnar, Cavite Alpha, Dramatic Duke, Rich Revivaland Rockon Xmoor.

While only 55 per cent of those offered at last year's sale changed hands, the aggregate and average leapt 16 and 13 per cent to £1,044,400 and £33,690. A new Cheltenham sale record was set when Howard Johnson went to £240,000 for Leopardstown bumper winner On His Own.
