Though bred in France, Chablais graduated through the Irish point-to-point ranks before being sold by Meadowview Stables for a Cheltenham sale record of £260,000 to owner Richard Kelvin Hughes, via Highflyer Bloodstock.

That same day in April last year, Kelvin Hughes paid £95,000 for Minella Class, the impressive winner of the Grade Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown last Saturday.

Chablais is by up-and-coming sire Saints Des Saints and is the first foal of the Mtoto mare Malandra, whose second, Bretaye by
Astarabad, is a four-time winner in France.

Polyfast became the third French-bred, Nicky Henderson-trained and Highflyer-bought winner at Kempton with a grinding success in the William Hill -Home Of Betting Handicap Chase.

The eight-year-old is by Start Fast, a winning hurdler/chaser in France who has covered small books since his retirement to stud in 1988.

Highflyer paid €115,000 for Polyfast at the Arqana Summer Sale in July 2007 from Arnaud Chaille-Chaille.

The second leg of the Henderson/Highflyer hat-trick  came via another ex-French performer in the five-year-old mare Nadiya De La Vega.

Owned by Highflyer Bloodstock’s Million In Mind Partnership, the daughter of Lost World was a hot favourite after her impressive British debut at Warwick in November. Trained by Nicky Henderson, Nadiya De La Vega raced three times at Pau, winningonce and placing twice.
