Brighton bonus for gambled on Verglas colt

YVONNE Jacques became the latest recipient of a £10,000 Racing Post Yearling Bonus when her gambled on Grandeur justified favouritism in the opening 7f maiden at Brighton on Tuesday.

The Jeremy Noseda-trained colt, who had run second to the highly regarded Nawwaar on his debut at Goodwood, was purchased through Brian Grassick Bloodstock for €85,000 out of the Ballylinch Stud consignment at last year's Goffs Orby Sale.

By Verglas, he was bred in Ireland by Cherry Faeste and is a half-brother to minor 1m4f winner Sixty Eight Guns. They are out of the Desert Sun mare Misskinta, a 1m4f-winning half-sister to popular stayer Far Cry, suggesting that Grandeur could improve again when he steps up in trip.
