Brave Richards win for Clodovil half-brother

A full pedigree analysis of Saturday's Group race winners will appear in the results section of Sunday's Racing Post.

COLOMBIAN'S brave victory over Poet in the Gordon Richards Stakes saw him become the ninth Group winner sired by the Aga Khan's Azamour.

Colombian, who was bred in Ireland by Smythson and races for HRH Princess Haya of Jordon, is out of the Prix de l'Opera heroine Clodora. He is a half-brother to five winners including the 2003 Poule d'Essai des Poulains winner Clodovil, now a successful sire at Rathasker Stud.

Clodora's last reported foal is the Dansili three-year-old colt Ouri, who won twice for Jean-Claude Rouget last year.

>> IMPERIAL Monarch advertised his Derby merits with a cosy success in bet365 Classic Trial at Sandown, which was achieved despite taking an extremely wide course throughout. In the process, he became the 60th Pattern winner sired by Galileo.

Imperial Monarch is bred to improve with time and distance as a three-parts brother to The Great Gatsby, who ran second to Kris Kin in the 2003 Derby. He is one of ten winners out of Listed winner Ionian Sea, a half-sister to 1990 Derby runner-up Blue Stag who has also clicked with Sadler's Wells to produce the 2003 Racing Post Trophy third Magritte and 2009 Yorkshire Oaks third Roman Empress.
