Botti snaps up €250,000 Stars colt at SGA

THE sole Sea The Stars yearling catalogued to the SGA Sale in Milan lit up the opening hour of trading on Friday when selling to Newmarket trainer Marco Botti for €250,000.

The colt, consigned by Razza Del Sole, was the only yearling to break six figures up to midway through the session.

He is the first foal out of Rosa Del Dubai, winner of the 2008 Group 3 Premio Maria Incisa della Rochetta for Bruno Grizzetti. She is a half-sister to Italian Listed winner Biancarosa and out of the Oaks d'Italia runner-up Rosa Di Brema.

"He's a nice individual - quite a big, scopey colt," said Botti, who was acting on behalf of an undisclosed client. "The dam was good and obviously he's by Sea The Stars, so he has the pedigree. He'll probably benefit from a bit of time.

"With Sea The Stars' yearlings selling so well, I thought this colt could make anywhere between €200,000 to €300,000. So we were prepared to pay what we did."
