BOSTONS ANGEL (6 g Winged Love - Lady Boston by Mansonnien) Breeder: P A D Scouller in Ireland

FAVOURITE Thegreatjohnbrowne appeared to have this race in safe keeping for most of the race as he dictated affairs up front, but he was unable to resist the challenge of 14-1 shot Bostons Angel, who stayed on powerfully to win by three-quarters of a length.

Quito De La Roque (by Saint Des Saints) was another to stay on well and snatched second while Western Charmer (by Good Thyne) overhauled a tired Thegreatjohnbrowne to take third.

Bostons Angel is from the first Irish-bred crop of Sheikh Mohammed's 1995 Irish Derby winner Winged Love.  The son of In The Wings spent his early years at stud at Gestut Karlshof in Germany before switching to Scarvagh House Stud in Northern Ireland and then to Tullyraine House Stud, where he has spent the past five seasons. He is set to stand 2011 at a private fee.

Winged Love is best known as the sire of the top-class 2m chaser Twist Magic, who won two renewals of the Tingle Creek Chase, as well as the 2004 Punchestown Champion 4yo Hurdle winner Cherub. However, his years in Germany also yielded several smart Flat performers led by the Group 2 Prix de Pomone winner Macleya and dual German Group 2 winner Aolus.

Bostons Angel is the first foal and winnerout of Lady Boston, who was successful in the Prix Chambly Hurdle at Auteuil as a three-year-old in 2000. The daughter of Mansonnien is a half-sister to the Listed-placed Sud Ouest and to the dam of Tolworth Hurdle third Astarador.
