Bold Silvanorelation tops Cape Book 2 opener

A CLOSE relation to Durban July and Dubai World Cup hope Bold Silvano topped the opening session of the two-day Cape Premier Yearling Sale Book 2 in Cape Town on Friday.

Already named Silver Image, the Daytona Stud offering is by Silvano and out of Saratoga Shadow, a stakes-placed sister to Bold SIlvano's dam Bold Saffron.

Leading owner Markus Jooste was the purchaser of the black colt, paying R400,000 (£33,288/€40,164).

Silver Image went through the ring late in the session and until then it was the Klipdrif Stud-consigned Dynasty colt Music Maestro who led the way after being sold to Zaki Racing for R375,000 (£31,208/€37,654).

Another Dynasty offering, a filly out of the Argentinean-bred Salt Lake mare Rubia Lake, sold to Rainbow Beach trading for R260,000 (£21,638/€26,107).

The opening session recorded turnover of R11,033,000 (£918,181/€1,107,819), for an average of R81,125 (£6,751/€8,145). The sale ends on Sunday.
