ERA Horses in Training Sale reduced to one day

THE Emirates Racing Authority Horses in Training Sale in Dubai will be staged over a single session this year on Wednesday March 10 at Meydan racecourse.

The auction, which is held in association with Tattersalls and is in its third year, was previously held in two parts, with the Dubai Racing Carnival Sale preceding the ERA Sale.

ERA have catalogued 88 horses to the sale this year, nearly 40 per cent fewer than last year. In 2009, a total of AED4,253,000 (£773,741/€852,560) was traded for 89 horses sold during the two sessions at an average of AED47,786 (£8,691/€9,579).

Proceedings were topped by Biarritz, who was sold out of Mike de Kock's yard for AED750,000 (£136,406/€150,300) to Darwish Al Bashri.

De Kock owns a strong draft of ten entries this time around led by 2,000 Guineas third Stubbs Art and the Group 1-placed Red Rock Canyon.

Blue Ksar, a half-brother to Prix du Jockey-Club winner Blue Canari who was Group 2-placed during his time with Godolphin, is another eye-catching entry.
