Musselburgh: winner as breeder for Frisby

NEWMARKET-based bloodstock agent Richard Frisby - purchaser of notable performers including Mitcham, Please Sing and Satchem - was on the mark as a breeder at Musselburgh on Wednesday when Blenheim Brook won the 2m4f European Breeders' Fund National Hunt Novices' Hurdle.

Last year Frisby joined forces with Lanwades Stud owner Kirsten Rausing to buy the 100-year-old British Bloodstock Agency to run it as a bloodstock investment fund.

Six-year-old gelding Blenheim Brook is already a point-to-point and novice hurdle winner. He is trained by Lucinda Russell for The County Set Three.

He is by the late Champion Hurdle winner Alderbrook, whose top jumps progeny include Bygones Of Brid, Glenfinn Captain and Ollie Magern.

Blenheim Brook's dam, the unraced Mandalus mare Blenheim Blinder, has also produced point-to-point winner Ushers Island by Rashar, and 2m1f handicap hurdle winner Black Phantom, also by Alderbrook.

Blenheim Blinder is a granddaughter of Sylvarna, a Listed winner over 7f at two whoalso finished second in the Group 3 Park Stakes.
