Enrique compiling strong dual-purpose record

BINOCULAR'S success in the re-scheduled International Hurdle at Ascot on Saturday not only saw him strengthen his position at the top of the Champion Hurdle market but also take his career earnings past the £265,000 mark.

Binocular is from the third crop of Henry Cecil's 1999 2,000 Guineas runner-up and Greenham Stakes winner Enrique, who has also been represented this month by Obrigado, second in the Grade 1 Hollywood Turf Cup.

The son of Barathea is also the sire of Listed winners Baby First, Fontcia and Troque on the Flat, and notable jumpers such as Prix Bournosienne Hurdle winner Slim Pearl and the three-year-old Moment Present. All were conceived during Enrique's time at Haras d'Etreham, where he stood until 2008.

He stood the past season at Haras du Hoguenot for €4,000.

Binocular was a smart performer on the Flat, finishing second in the Listed Prix Francois Mathet for his breeder and former trainer Elie Lellouche.

He is the best foal out of the useful jumper Bleu Ciel Et Blanc, also the dam of Assassino, a multiple winner under both codes. The daughter of Pistolet Bleu has a yearling filly by Westerner named Saroushka.

A half-sister to four minor winners in France, Bleu Ciel Et Blanc is from the family of Grade 3 winners Timber Ribbon and Hoh Dear.
