Rising popularity spells stud move for Areion

GERMAN stallion Areion, who has enjoyed a breakthrough year by siring four individual Group winners, will move from Gestüt Evershorst to Gestüt Auenquelle for the 2011 breeding season.

The switch was motivated by Evershorst being unable to accommodate the increased number of mares already booked to Areion for the spring.

Areion, owned by Marlene Haller and Evershorst, will take theplace of his late German champion sire, Big Shuffle, at Auenquelle.

His fee has been set at €8,000, up from €6,000 this year.

Areion - a Group 3-winning brother to high-class sprinter Agnetha - has been represented in 2010 by German 1,000 Guineas winner Kali and Diana Trial and Istanbul Trophy scorer Vanjura, as well as Group 3 winners Earl Of Fire and Prakasa.
