Top German miler Precious Boy dies

PRECIOUS BOY, owned and bred by Baron von Finck's Gestüt Park Wiedingen, was put down on Wednesday after suffering from a tumour of the spleen.

The five-year-old son of Big Shuffle won Germany's premier two-year-old race, the Group 3 Preis der Winterfavoriten, and added theMehl-Mülhens-Rennen (German 2,000 Guineas) and Group 2 Europa-Meile to his resume in the following season.

Last year he was a narrowly beaten second behind Pressing in the Group 1 Grosser Dallmayr-Preis and ran third in the Group 3 Prix Gontaut at Deauville.

Precious Boy, who was trained by Waldemar Hickst, was out of the Surumu mare Pretty Su.
