Better Than Honour in foal to Street Cry

BETTER Than Honour, who set a world record for a broodmare at auction when knocked down for $14m at last year's Fasig-Tipton November Sale, has been confirmed in foal to Street Cry.

The 13-year-old daughter of Deputy Minister is believed to be carrying a filly.

Better Than Honour was offered at auction last year to dissolve a partnership comprising of Southern Equine Stables and Hill 'n' Dale Farms. Following a protracted duel, it was the former who got the final say at $14m for the mare, who at the time was barren.

From seven  foals of racing age, Better Than Honour is the dam of five winners including Belmont Stakes scorers Rags To Riches, who was also named champion three-year-old filly, and Jazil. Another of her produce, Casino Drive, is a leading performer in Japan.

Better Than Honour voted Kentucky Broodmare of the Year in 2007.

Street Cry stood the past season for $150,000 at Darley at Jonabell in Kentucky.
