Bertolini leaves Overbury Stud for France

THE French stallion ranks have gained a new addition in former Darley stallion Bertolini, who has moved to Haras des Faunes in the south-west of France.

The 16-year-old son of Danzig stood the past season at Overbury Stud in Gloucestershire for £3,000.

Bertolini, who won the July Stakes and was multiple Group 1-placed for John Gosden and then Godolphin, sired the Cheveley Park Stakes winner Donna Blini in his first crop, bred in 2002 of a fee of £4,000.

Donna Blini has since found further fame as the dam of this year’s Japanese fillies’ Triple Crown and Japan Cup heroine Gentildonna.

Bertolini is also the sire of New Zealand Group 1 winner Juice as well as the Group-winning sprinters Prime Defender and Moorhouse Lad.

He will stand alongside Deportivo and Soave at Haras des Faunes.
