Twin Palms Stud dispersal leads Inglis sale

GOLDEN SLIPPER winner Polar Success fetched A$1.2 million at 2009 Inglis Australian Weanling and Breeding Stock Sale, where close to A$6million was traded.

The select broodmare session saw 94 fillies and mares sell for an aggregate of A$5,668,250, an average of A$60,300 and at clearance rate of 77 per cent.

Polar Success was sold through the draft of Twin Palms Stud as part of the Johnson family dispersal and knocked down to Inglis as agent for a locally based client.

Already the dam of stakes-placed Polaway (Giant's Causeway), the daughter of Success Express was sold in foal to Darley's stallion Bernardini.

Her price dwarfed the second-best price which was A$420,000 given for the Timber Country mare Capote, also from Twin Palms. The stud's draft made up the top seven lots for the day and finished with an overall aggregate of A$3.8million at an average of over A$190,000.

The farm was also the session topper through the foal session selling a Redoute's Choice colt out the Spectrum mare Dancing to KP Thoroughbreds for A$300,000.

In total,  A$3.86million was traded though the foal's sessions at an clearance rate of 84 per cent. The select foal session averaged A$21,426 and included five foals which fetched A$100,000 or more.

"This is only the second year of this sale but it has very quickly established its place on the sales calendar and its timing has proven ideal for quality dispersals" said Inglis managing director Mark Webster. "The first session finished with a clearance rate of 80 per cent and that solid start was built on today.

"We had a lot of inquiry from pinhookers for this sale and we look forward to reoffering their purchases at next year's yearling sales.
