Benoit secures Lapland for €64,000 at Arqana

A HALF-SISTER to yesterday's sale topper Land Star followed suite when making €64,000 to Laurent Benoit on the final day of Arqana's December Breeding Stock Sale on Tuesday.

Consigned by Haras de Clairefontaine, Lapland was offered in foal to Lawman, also the sire of her close relative Loi. Trained by Jean-Marie Beguigne, the colt won the Group 3 Prix de Conde in September, and is being aimed at the Epsom Derby next season.

Benoit said following his purchase, "I have bought her for Haras des Sablonnets, and she is a nice young mare with a good covering.I thought we might get her for a little less."

BLEU D'AVRIL, a half-sister to Grade 2 winning chaser Royal Auclair will be heading acrossthe channel after Guy Petit went to €20,000 on the final day of Arqana's December Breeding Stock Sale.

Previously owned by trainer Guy Cherel, the daughter of Pistolet Bleu was Listed placed over hurdles, and is the dam of winning hurdler April Blue, who has also been third at the same level.

Out of the Carmont mare Carmonera, Bleu d'Avril is also a half-sister to stakes placed chaser Dona Carmen, the dam of Grade 3 winning chaser Don Mirande. She was sold in foal to Al Namix.

"I have bought her for a client in England, and I thought she made a reasonable price in today's market. She has a great pedigree,and is in foal to a very good sire," Petit said.
