Benny The Bull lined up for Brazil covering stint

BENNY The Bull, the 2008 Eclipse-winning sprinter, will stand the southern hemisphere season in Brazil for the next two years following a deal brokered between his owner and agent Renato Gameiro of Albatroz Bloodstock.

The Group 1 Golden Shaheen winner will stand at the Haras Santa Tereza do Bom Retiro, owned by Jose Adriano Quadros.

Benny The Bull, who stands the northern hemipshere season at Vinery, replaces the late Artax, whose victories included the Breeders' Cup Sprint.

"From my point of view, if you lose an Eclipse Awardwinner, you need to replace him with another Eclipse Award winner," said  Gameiro. "Traditionally Brazil has been looking for stamina, but we are looking to infuse the breed with speed, and I believe Benny The Bull's brilliance and acceleration can translate to our market ."

Greg James said: "It is very exciting and rewarding to see him going to Brazil for Southern Hemisphere duties. I had received several offers lastyear, but none that I felt as confident  and comfortable in as Haras Santa Tereza. It is a great opportunity, with great tradition and high quality mares."

Benny The Bull, an eight-year-old horse by Lucky Lionel, retired earnings of $2,353,430. He was bred in Florida by Tomoka Farms.
