Katsumi Yoshida buys Chilean champion mare

Multiple Chilean champion and five-time Group 1 winner Belle Watling, who capped off the 2010 season with a victory over the boys in the Gran Premio Internacional Asociacion Latinoamericana de Jockey Clubes e Hipodromos (Chi-G1), South America´s most prominent weight-for-age race, has been purchased privately by international agent Emmanuel de Seroux on behalf of top Japanese breeder Katsumi Yoshida of Northern Farm for an undisclosed price.

No breeding plans have yet been made for the five-year-old daughter of Dushyantor , who was withdrawn from the upcoming Fasig-Tipton November Sale and is expected to be shipped to Japan towards the end of the year where she will join owner Yoshida´s powerful band of broodmares.

Belle Watling won13 of 16 starts in her native Chile, including a streak of 10 races and a sweep of Club Hipico de Santiago´s Quadruple Crown for three-year-olds on the grass en route to earning divisional and Horse of the Year honors. Campaigned in NorthAmerica by Flying Zee Stable and partners, Belle Watling retires with 13 wins, one second, and two thirds from 21 career starts and earnings of nearly £500,000.
