to Imperial success

Saturday: Imperial Cup H'cap Hurdle (Listed) 2m 1/2f

DAVE'S DREAM (g Anshan - Native Success)

ANSHAN has enjoyed a relatively successful season so far as the sire of 41 winners of over £380,000, but he hadn't hit the stakes mark this season until the seven length success of Dave's Dream in the Imperial Cup at Sandown.

The former Glenview Stud-based stallion died as the result of a paddock accident in 2005 but has left behind several classy performers such as Asian Maze, McKelvey and IlDuce, all of whom were conceived at €3,000 or less.

Anshan, a son of Persian Bold bred by Stowell Hill Stud, was a high-class miler for Sheikh Mohammed, taking the Supreme Stakes and running third in the 2,000 Guineas to Tirol.

Prior to his spell at Glenview, he stood at New England Stud, from where he sired the high-class speedball Repertory and Group 1 winner Dark Moondancer, now at stud in France.

Bred by Kenilworth Stud in Ireland, Dave's Dream passed through the Tattersalls Ireland ring twice during his early years, selling for €25,000 as a foal to John O'Byrne and €23,000 as a three-year-old to Highflyer Bloodstock.

Dave's Dream is the only winner from five runners out of Native Success, a daughter of Be My Native who was unplaced over hurdles and points.

However, she is a half-sister to several notable jumps performers including Emperors Pride (by Cut Above) and Son Of War(by Pragmatic).

Native Success has a yearling colt by Court Cave.
