BC heroine Shared Account to Bernardini

SHARED ACCOUNT, who nailed Midday on the line to win last year's Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, has been retired and will be covered by Bernardini next year, her owner Sagamore Farm has announced.

Sagamore Farm bought five-year-old Shared Account, a daughter of Pleasantly Perfect and Grade 2 Prioress Stakes scorer Silk N' Sapphire for $170,000 at the 2007 Keeneland September yearling sale.

Graham Motion saddled her to win the Grade 2 Lake Placid Stakes and Grade 3 All Along Stakes, as well as the Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf, which she won by a neck at odds of 33-1.

Bernardini, a Preakness Stakes-winning son of A.P. Indy who stands at Sheikh Mohammed's Jonabell Farm in Kentucky, has sired four top-flight winners in his first crop: A Z Warrior and Biondetti at two in 2010 and Stay Thirsty and To Honor And Serve at three this year.

Ben Leon's Besilu Stables paid $1.2 million for Shared Account's half-sister by Bernardini at this year's Keeneland September yearling sale.
