Breeders' Cup winners' daughters in Psyche

TODAY'S Group 3 Prix de Psyche at Deauville features a showdown between two daughters of Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf winners.

A leading fancy for the 1m2f contest for three-year-old fillies is Romantica, runner-up in the Prix Chloe last time out.

Juddmonte homebred Romantica is by Galileo and out of Banks Hill, who won three Group 1 races - the Coronation Stakes, the Prix Jacques le Marois and the 2001 Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf.

Banks Hill is one of five Group or Grade 1 winners out of exceptional Juddmonte blue hen Hasili, along with Cacique, Champs Elysees, Heat Haze and Intercontinental.

Banks Hill's brother Dansili just missed out on Group 1 laurels but has atoned for that as a sire, getting ten top-flight winners. Dansili is also the sire of one of Romantica's Psyche opponents, Dark Orchid.

Romantica is bred on the fruitful Galileo-Danehill cross that is also responsible for Juddmonte superstar Frankel.

The other Psyche contender out of a Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Turf heroine is Aghareed, who is the first foal out of Hamdan Al Maktoum's 2007 winner Lahudood.

Aghareed, a daughter of Kingmambo, traces back to Sheikh Hamdan's outstanding broodmare Height Of Fashion, who produced stars Nashwan, Nayef and Unfuwain and is ancestress of other celebrities such as Ghanaati.
