Dam of Tapit set to be sold at Fasig-Tipton

TAP Your Heels, dam of Grade 1 winner and leading young sire Tapit, is set to sell at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Fall Mixed Sale on November 7, for which the catalogue will be released later this month. The 14-year-old daughter of Unbridled is in foal to Elusive Quality.

The decision was taken to sell Tap Your Heels by Barbara Facchinos' Barouche Stud as the operation has recently retained several of her daughters.

"We've got a three-year-old sister to Tapit, Click Your Heels, in training in the US and another sister, a yearling, with us in Ireland who will shortly go into training," said Rory Matthews, manager of Barouche Stud. "So we're not getting out of the family - in time we'll be breeding from it on both sides of the pond."

Minor stakes winner Tap Your Heels hit the ground running atstud when she produced Tapit in her first year. The son of Pulpit won three races during a career blighted by a series of minor setbacks including the Wood Memorial before retiring to Gainesway Farm in Kentucky. He has since developed into a leading young sire, with five Group/Grade 1 winners to his name from three crops of racing age including champion Stardom Bound.

Tapit was still a yearling when Nesco II paid $900,000 for Tap Your Heels from Olenburg Farm at the 2002 Keeneland November Sale. She has since produced the Listed-placed Overandabeauty and a two-year-old filly by Bernardini, named Kalavinka, who sold to Katsumi Yoshida for $520,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Calder Sale in March. She foaled a filly by Pulpit this year.

A half-sister to US champion sprinter Rubiano, Tap Your Heels is from the family of last year's Belmont Stakes winner Summer Bird and influential sire Relaunch.
