Bargain buy Oaks win for daughter of Lomitas

ITALIAN Oaks winner Danedream can safely described as a bargain, having been sold for just €9,000 last  year at the Baden-Baden Spring Horses In Training Sale.

A member of the penultimate crop of Lomitas, sire of the high-earning globetrotter Silvano, Danedream is out of the unraced Danehill mare Danedrop, a half-sister to seven winners including the dam of Roseanna, who landed the Listed Prix Yacowlef before finishing third in the Nell Gwynn Stakes.  She joins Frankel, Golden Lilac and Roderic O'Connor on the list of 2011 Classic winners out of Danehill mares.

Third dam Lady Berry was a Prix Royal Oak winner who produced a trio of French Group 1 winners in Vert Amanda (Ganay), Le Nain Jeune (Grand Prix de Paris), and Indian Rose (Prix Vermeille). Their half-sister Featherhill produced Groom Dancer.

The same San Siro card saw a further stakes winner - there are now eight - from the first crop of Aussie Rules thanks to the Listed race victory of  Cazals.
