Bargain buy adds
to Kingsalsa's tally

SPANISH invader Ariete Arrolladorheld off the final challenge So Long Malphic to land the Listed Prix Luthier at Deauville on Thursday and become the seventh black-type winner for his sire, Kingsalsa.

Kingsalsa, a son of Kingmambo based at Harasde Victot in France, has yet to sire a Pattern winner in Europe but it is a different situation in India where he is the sire of the 2010 2,000 Guineas winner Ocean And Beyond. Kingsalsa stands for €4,000.

Remarkably, Ariete Arrollador failed to change hands for the minimum bid when offered as a foal at the 2007 Goffs November Sale. Bred in Britain by Loughtown Stud, he is a half-brother to three minor winners in France and out of Proud Donna, a winning half-sister to American Listed winner Proud Fillie.

Proud Donna is a daughter of Kaldoun meaning that Ariete Arrollador inbred 3x3 to Kingsalsa's damsire Caro.
