Barefoot Lady in private sale to Japan interests
GRADE 2 winner Barefoot Lady has been sold to an established Japanese breeder in a private deal handled by Goffs.
The Richard Fahey-trained filly was offered for sale by her owner Norman Steel at last month's Goffs November Breeding Stock Sale but she was bought back for €425,000.
Barefoot Lady, a daughter of Footstepsinthesand, has won five races, including the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes last year and the Grade 2 Canadian Stakes at Woodbine in September.
Her new owners have not decided whether she will continue racing or be retired to the breeding shed.
Goffs director Joey Cullen said: "Barefoot Lady was a tough and admirable race filly who gave her owners Norman and Helen Steel many fantastic days on the racetrack.
"She was a star attraction at last week's November Sale and while her price remains confidential I can confirm that it would have been the highest price of the week.
"Many vendors were delighted with the results that they achieved last week and the Goffs team is overjoyed that there post-sale efforts have achieved such a good result for Mr and Mrs Steel, who we thank for putting their faith in Goffs to achieve such a good price for a high-class filly."
