Be Fabulous dam back to Samum next year

GESTUT Karlshof has already decided one of its matings for next year - not surprising as it is a no-brainer: the German stud's star mare Bandeira is going back to its resident stallion Samum, to produce a full-sibling to Group 1 winners Baila Me and Be Fabulous.

Bandeira, a 16-year-old daughter of Law Society and Chilean 1,000 Guineas winner Blumme, has produced four winners headlined by Baila Me, who won the Preis von Europa in 2008, and Be Fabulous, who won this season's Prix Royal-Oak.

She is also the dam of Listed scorer Bailamos, by Lomitas.
Bandeira has a filly foal by Samum and is carrying to Samum's Deutsches Derby-winning son Kamsin.

Karlshof has reported that Samum has already received almost 40 applications for next year's breeding season - a large number by German breeding standards - including support from leading domestic breeders Dr Christoph Berglar, Gestut Hachtsee, Gestut Ebbesloh, Gestut Auenquelle and Gestut Etzean.

Samum is one of three Classic winners bred by Karlshof who are by Monsun and out of Sacarina, along with Salve Regina and Schiaparelli.

The Deutsches Derby winner is also the sire of this season's Grosser Dallmayr Bayerisches Zuchtrennen winner Durban Thunder, bringing his tally of Group 1 winners to four along with Baila me, Be Fabulous and Kamsin.
