First foal for Ballylinch sire Lawman
THE first foal by 2007 Prix du Jockey Club winner Lawman was born on Sunday. The foal is a filly and is the second product of Edessya, a daughter of Moyglare Stud Stakes heroine Edabiya. She was delivered at Jim McDonald's Herbage Stud.
A son of Invincible Spirit and a half-brother to Prix de Diane heroine Latice, Lawman won a maiden race at two and improved at three to win the Group 3 Prix de Guiche, the Prix Jean Prat and the Prix du Jockey Club.
In the Prix du Jockey Club he beat the subsequent Group/Grade 1 winners Literato, Shamdinan, Zambezi Sun and Spirit One.
At the end of his Classic season he was retired to Ballylinch Stud in Co. Kilkenny, Ireland. He stood at €25,000 in his first season at stud in 2008, and will stand at €20,000 this season.
